My second island wedding this year..a record for me…i normally avoid the so called destination weddings,a business decision i made a few years ago, however i ve had mega fun with my 2 recent island weddings.. and perhaps it is time to re-evaluate my decision.
I get this call earlier in the year for a wedding in Crete….on the 21st of August…wow what a coincidence i think,as i will be vacating with family and friends in Crete this year…so if i m gonna be there anyway i might as well take on a wedding.
And i sure am glad that i did !!!
Firstly, it was my first vacation to Crete ..we absolutely fell in love with the place..i ve always had a soft spot for the Cretans since alot of my good friends are from Crete…my favourite dances are Cretan …. i ve developed a serious fondness for Raki …..i love the accent …and hell i m even contemplating to changing my name to Michalakis!!!!
As for the wedding..wow..what a wedding!!
It was all held at the Amirandes Grecotel in Irakleio in my opinion one of the top hotels in the country…we even ran into our Prime minister Mr George Papandreou…who like a true gentleman that he is walked up to us during the shoot and wholeheartedly wished the couple his very best!!!
As for Sofia and David….
The Cretan Siren meets her Californian hunk…teaches him fluent Greek and to dance the Zeibekiko like Zorba and marries him!!!
Sofia and David,it was a real pleasure to work with you guys.We loved every minute of your wedding even though the last bit is a bit foggy thanks to all the raki we had with all the Cretan party animals!!!
I think at one stage i was dancing tsifteteli with one of the Koumbares..i m not sure!!!
Dare say no to a Cretan when he offers you Raki!!!!
